Coach departs from Spalding at 8am

There will be time on arrival for drink in the Wavertree Café before our tour guide joins us on the coach at 10.45am for a tour of the National Stud. This will last about 90 minutes. The National Stud opened its gates to the public for the first time in the mid 1970s. To this day the Stud remains the only commercial stud farm in the UK allowing individuals, small groups and large parties the chance to see behind the scenes of a working thoroughbred stud farm. The National Stud can only be visited by pre-booking a guided tour with Discover Newmarket. The tours explore this beautiful 500-acre stud farm and focus on introducing visitors to the history and purpose of The National Stud as a commercial Thoroughbred breeding operation. After the tour there will be free time in town for lunch until we enter the National Horse Racing Museum as a group at 2pm. The National Horseracing Museum tells the story of horse racing from its earliest origins to the world-wide phenomenon it is today. This is explored through works of art, silver, bronzes, and artifacts including silks worn by famous jockeys Lester Piggott and Frankie Dettori. Using the latest interactive and audiovisual displays the museum also takes a different look at the sport, examining the physical attributes of the elite equine athlete and the importance of thoroughbred pedigree. Your visit will not be complete without riding a winner on our famous racehorse simulator!
